A resident of the Town came to the Town Council with a real concern. Cars are speeding down his road. His children and his neighbors’ children are scared. What will the Town do?
There are a lot of wonderful ideas in their policy. Maybe some work for us, maybe some we need to change to better fit the character of our town. But the policy has three key pieces:
When the community comes together and agrees that there is a problem, the issue gets studied by the town.
A transparent, clear report is produced that tells the residents the outcome of the study.
Low-to-zero-cost solutions are tried first, and then, after six months, more budget-testing solutions are implemented.
It also speaks to my desire to have a budget that speaks for the values of the Town. Has the Chief looked into movable speed bumps? Should he?
